Puerto Vallarta is a very popular seaside town on the west coast of Mexico. It is part of the Bay of Flags, Banderas Bay or Bahia de Banderas right into the Mexican Riviera. Los Arcos is known for its aquarium like diving with arches, canyons and fascinating walls. The Marietas Islands are Vallarta's prime dive destination with scuba diving on some of the best coral reefs in Mexico. This protected wildlife sanctuary and marine preserve is also known for its Blue Footed Boobies, only spotted here and on the Galapagos Islands. The bay's south shore with its steep rocky cliffs is particularly interesting for snorkeling. Divers are treated with some of the most magnificent creatures on earth. It is possible to dive with manta rays, whale sharks between December and March and dolphins. Also sea lions, turtles and many of the coral reef fish such as angelfish, butterfly fish, snapper and barracuda are spotted.

Besides its stunning underwater life, pretty beaches and many water activities, you can also hike into its dense jungle, experience some of the best views on the Sierra Madre Mountains or enjoy its wild nightlife. There are excursions of all sorts. Cruises bring you all across the bay, to picturesque villages such as Majahuitas and Colomitos; to the secluded town of Las Caletas only accessible from the sea with a beautiful backdrop of canopy-like tropical rainforest in Mexico. Other interesting places to visit are Jalisco, Nayarit, Punta de Mita and Chimo. It is a sun-blessed destination that serves all types of tourists.
