In 1980, the large Mexican fishing vessel El Vencedor sank northeast of Cabo Pulmo. Today her working parts, broken ribs and sections of hull are strewn across the sandy bottom.
Because of the big fish and abundant coral life, this wreck is a favorite with photographers. A large engine and a huge brass propeller provide sanctuary for plenty of marine life. In winter months, great numbers of grunts and goatfish can be seen in schools.
