Barracuda Wall and San Juan Reef lie to the north side of Cozumel. The currents of this area run 3 to 10 knots and they will carry the unknowing diver out to sea easily right into the open ocean. For the truly adventurous diver, it is a rewarding challenge and you can often spot large schools of fish, turtles, and even hammerhead sharks have been sighted here in the past. Due to the currents this area is very pristine and you will see endless hills of finger coral, nurse sharks, schools of jacks and dolphins.

San Juan Reef is a flat strip reef with sand around, sloping into the depths. Wire coral and purple sea fans are common, but the large pelagics are the attraction here.
