Diving in Baja California is done around Los Cabos and La Paz, particularly interesting because of large pelagic, whales and sea lions.

Baja California Sur has become one of the most popular getaway destinations. Its tropical climate, sunny weather and pretty white golden beaches have attracted tourists from all across the world. Los Cabos, the common name for the region between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, is one of the most touristic areas with dive shops, snorkeling tours, fishing tournaments and cruise ships visiting the interesting spots at this most southern point of the peninsula. Diving in Baja California Sur is especially popular because of its wild colonies of sea lions. Diving is often done from small wooden pangas with easy back rolls allthough more professional dive boats also exist. The Gordo Banks offer deep diving with several of the world's largest animals and fish. Whales, sea lions, mantas and hammerhead sharks are some of the species frequently spotted here if you dive in the right season. Gerrero Negro on the Pacific side and Mulege to La Paz on the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez), are some of the best bays to go for whale watching cruises.
